Dissertation Aims and an MA in Casting

Reflecting on my dissertation aims and motivations, I was inspired by the future Casting Directors I'm doing this for. With the notion of "taking ownership" over my gathered materials, I feel privileged to take this role upon myself and finish this MA as strongly as I can. I know it won't end perfectly, it probably won't end with a Distinction, but I guess that's the point: it won't end. I don't believe it's meant to. I believe this is a possible springboard into something greater, something scarier. The cogs of the casting world are turning and the time to be an active contributor is now.
With the encouraging feedback I've received from accredited CDs, to the CSA's archival project and training program underway, to the Placing Faces Podcast, to discovering that an associate professor from Princeton University is about to debut his history on Casting text, I believe there is validity in my proposal towards this curriculum, perhaps more than I ever believed in it before. I welcome my invitation to pull up a chair to this table of professionals and ignite this conversation. I hope the casting community will embrace these contributions and allow the pathway to the profession to evolve.
